What A Beautiful Day!

This week's run would have been perfect for a wedding. Not only was the weather beautiful but it contained all the essentials for a bride on her wedding day -- something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

We were met by some old friends who hadn't joined us in a while but were back to run with the group. It was great to see both Tom P., and Heather back out on the trails again.

We even had a new face among us. Lisa brought her neighbor, Fred, along to run with us. It's always nice to meet new people and welcome them to the group. Hopefully, he enjoyed himself enough to keep coming back.

As we made our way out of the first section of trails we came upon the team area where dozens of high schools from all over were preparing to compete in the Mercer Lake Sprints/ ISA Sculling Championships. It was at that point where Bill S. (a.k.a. - flyers26) showed us what being a Philadelphia sports fan is all about when he borrowed every one liner ever heard within the City of Brotherly Love and heckled the teams as we ran past their tents. Here are just a few of the highlights: "You're going down Shrewsbury!!!", "We're coming for you Westfield!!!", "Hey Baltimore, you sure came a long way to lose...it's gonna be a tough ride home!!!"

And last but not least, with temps in the 50's and blue skies above we couldn't have asked for a nicer day. There is nothing like those first few runs of the season where you get to shed the layers you've been wearing all winter.

As far as the run itself, it was an out and back as it usually is at MCP. The course included the usual twirly bird, a hill sprint at the dam and even a couple of extra hills as we came back and cut up through the tennis courts to the bike path so we could get everyone back on time who needed to get the rest of their day started.

Roll call: Bill S., Bill Y., Charlie, Fred, Heather, Jessica, Lisa, and Tom P.

  1. I knew someone was yelling things as we went through there, but I was so far behind the group, all I got to hear was people's befuddled reactions. I heard a lot of "What did that guy just say??" which left me wondering who in our group was yelling smack talk to strangers! Thanks for the great run! I'm so glad I made it out.
