Looped!

It's hard to believe but less than a week ago the trails at Mercer County Park were covered in four inches of snow and required spikes to traverse. Today was a different story, with temps in the low 50's when we met at 7am all the snow had melted and there wasn't a patch of ice to be found.

We headed out on the bike path, up behind the tennis courts, out through the twirly bird and then straight on towards the dam. When we reached the dam "we decided" (translation: Nate made us follow him!) to take it all the way around the lake, so, it was through the gates, across the dam, and then out towards the golf course. After hopping on the cart path for a bit (shhhhhhh!) to get around some extremely muddy trails that cut down near the lake we then found our way back to drier trails and took them out to the Finn M.W. Caspersen Rowing Center, which sits directly across the lake from the marina boathouse. I think that is probably the best part of doing the loop -- when you look across the lake and see where you were not too long ago and then you peek down towards the dam and see just how much area you've covered. You soon realize, however, that it's not over yet. After ducking back into the trails behind the rowing center it was over a couple of bridges before kicking into the finish with a negative split for the last mile. A great run by all on a beautiful day!

Roll call: Bill S., Bill Y., Butch, Cassi, Diana, Nate, Terri
