Our friend and fellow HATR, Bill Scannon, is looking for a spot in this year's NYC Marathon by attempting to raise $2500 for The Arthritis National Research Foundation. Please check out his donation page for details and, if you are so obliged, support him as he runs NY for a good cause and aims for his ultimate goal -- a Boston qualifier!

A Challenge From the Master Himself...
Ok...calling all my Warriors, Wild Animals, and battle tested Killers. Get ready for the competition of your life!. The first annual Philadelphia Metrodash. Here's the deal...
The Race:
Competitors will receive a list of challenge points in their race bags at packet pick-up. While it varies by city, Metro Dash competitors are typically confronted with 5-7 challenge points during the course of the race. All but one challenge point will be listed; the last is revealed seconds before the start of the race. We do this to keep you honest! There is no pre-set course, which means you determine the order in which you'll run to, and conquer, each challenge - just be sure to hit each one!
There are three competition categories...
■Tabata Challenge – Tabata is an interval training cycle of 20 seconds of maximum effort followed by 10 seconds of rest. You repeat this 8 times for a total of 4 minutes. You will do as many reps possible of the stated exercise during the 20 seconds, anything less and you've failed yourself.
■Stair Climb – You'll run up and down the equivalent of a 15-story office building. Depending on the city you may have to carry a 10lb weight with you.
■The Gauntlet - This is our extreme urban obstacle course where you'll flip tractor tires, low crawl, and launch yourself over an 8 foot wall.
There are only 200 slots and they are going fast.
Who among you shall attend?

Harpeth Hills Mud
CALLING ALL HATRs!!! We'll be collecting donations for this worthy cause at our group run this Saturday. Any amount raised, big or small, will be sent directly to a fellow runner in Tennesse whose home has been devastated by a mud slide. Check out these pics shared by NJ Trail Series...
If you ran past this stranger on the trail and found them laying in the mud I know every one of you would extend your hand to help them get back on their feet. Please come on out on Saturday and run in their honor and band together with HATR to pay it forward!

Veterans Day
On 4/10, the group met at Steinert High School in what most thought was going to be another track workout. Instead, the starting location was just chosen to throw people off and we headed across the street to run through and around Veteran's Park.
For most of us this would mark the last long run before the RU Half Marathon. We stuck mostly to the bike/walking paths and looped throughout the park several times, even venturing out the Kuser Road entrance around to White Horse Hamilton Square Road and back into the park near the hospital.
Each time we passed the point where we had started we shed a runner as they each had to leave early for one reason or another. Those that stayed to the end put in about 9.5 miles and capped it all off with one round of bleachers. It was nice to be running those bleachers while it was still cool out. Usually, it's 90 degrees and humid when we do that...can't wait for summer!
Roll call: Bill S., Bill Y., Brian, Butch, Damian, Linda, Lisa
